The 14th Annual River Festival will provide lots of family fun as summer comes to a close.
The festival will take place Friday and Saturday at Expedition Island. Both days are filled with fun activities, and there is something for everyone to enjoy.
“The festival is a fundraiser for the chamber so we appreciate any help from the community,” the Green River Chamber’s Public Relations and Marketing Specialist Destinee Rael said.
Rael said the festival provides great entertainment for the community.
The Micro Brew Gardens will kick the festival off on Friday at 3 p.m. Also on Friday will be free kids games from 5-7 p.m. The games include an array of options including hula hoop contests, sack races and tug of war. There will be a spaghetti dinner from 5-7 p.m. hosted by the Knights of Columbus. It is $10 for adults and $5 for children six years of age and under.
The community favorite, the Cajun Shrimp Boil will be served at 5 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are for sale at the Green River and Rock Springs Chambers. It is $25 for adults and $15 for children and seniors.
The band Fists of Funk will play throughout the evening starting at 5:30 p.m. Also, the Great Duck Race will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are for sale at the Chamber and also Tiffany Phillips’ AFLAC office. Ticket prices are one ticket for $5 and five tickets for $20. First place prize is $250, second place is $100 and third place is $50.
Saturday the day starts with a marathon at 6:30 a.m. The festival will end at 4 p.m. The Green Belt Bike Poker Run starts at 9 a.m. as well as the River Walk.
The car and bike show will be at Evers Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting at 11 a.m. will be the dog fetching competition and the free kids games. The brew gardens will open at 11 a.m. as well.
The band Ryan Chrys and the Rough Cuts will play until the end of the festival starting at 11:30 a.m.
There will also be a dog show at 1 p.m. at the Red Desert Humane Society in Rock Springs.
