Laughter filled Centennial Park Wednesday morning as kids and families watched a fun puppet show.
The Sweetwater County Library System hosted a puppet show Wednesday as part of its Summer Reading Program.
Meghan Casey, professional ventriloquist at Rocky Mountain Puppets, performed her show, “The Heroes in You.”
Casey started her show by getting the kids excited by using a noise meter and having the crowd shout “superhero” as loud as they could.
“The Heroes in You” expresses that everybody is a hero in their own unique ways. The show went along with the Summer Reading Program’s theme, “Every Hero has a Story.”
The story started with Henry the cat. Henry wanted to glue the library doors shut so no one could read anymore.
Aidan the dragon was called upon to help stop Henry, along with Shuester the dog, who had the ability to fly using his ears, and he could change the color of snow.
Batman, which was a friendly baseball bat wearing a Batman mask and cape, also assisted in the mission. All of the puppets said KID COP was needed to stop Henry. KID COP is a superhero whose name is an acronym for the traits needed to be a hero.
Kindness, integrity, determination, courage, opportunity and persistence.
Ultimately, the kids were the heroes. Casey and KID COP brought up six kids from the audience to represent each word. The volunteers then had to combine the traits to pull the evil thoughts out of Henry’s mind.
The show was very interactive and the kids enjoyed it, as well as the adults.
