Boys take 6th at state

The Green River High School boy’s soccer team fought a hard battle at state in Rock Springs last week.

The team finished 6th in the tournament, winning one of the three games they competed in, eliminating Natrona County High School from the tournament.

In their first game, Green River lost to Cheyenne East, who would eventually play and lose against Cheyenne Central in the championship game. Green River battled Cheyenne East at Rock Springs High School in a game that would be delayed by lightning.

In their second match, Green River came alive against Natrona, beating them 4-1 in their consolation round.

In their final state matchup Saturday, Green River was defeated 3-1 by Gillette in the consolation championship.

Green River had a great season overall, with a 6-4 record. Tanner Trumble was also the third top scoring player in the conference. trumble, Chase Erickson, and Kyle Goglio were recently named All-State by the Wyoming Coaches Association.

Head coach Chris Bieber could not be reached for comment before press time.
