Rena Lee Jewkes, 70, of Green River, passed away May 18, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. She was a long-time resident of Green River and former resident of Springville, Utah.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1944 in Spanish Fork, Utah, the daughter of the late John and Vera Lowe.
Jewkes attended schools in Springville, Utah and was a 1962 graduate of Springville High School.
She married Robert Louis Jewkes in 1978 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Jewkes was employed at Geneva Steel for many years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
Her interests included bowling, playing cards especially pinochle, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Robert Jewkes of Green River; four sons, Mike Jewkes and wife Letty, James Newmeyer and wife Misty and Paul Jewkes, all of Green River, and Daniel Newmeyer and wife Raquel of Rock Springs; one daughter, Peggy McKenzie and husband Brian of Green River; two brothers, Vernon Lowe of Payson, Utah and Lewis Lowe of Orem, Utah; three sisters, Margaret Beardall of Salem, Utah, Wilda Gordon of Spanish Fork, Utah and Julie Sorenson of Springville, Utah; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Candace L. Newmeyer who passed away in 1984; one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, the L.D.S. Stake Center at 120 Shoshone Drive in Green River. Friends may call at the L.D.S. Stake Center on Friday one hour prior to services. Graveside services and interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah on May 27 at 2 p.m.
