The Green River High School track team will start their postseason Friday at the 4A West Regional Track Meet in Evanston.
The Wolves will be going into the meet after several days off. The team was supposed to compete Saturday at the Shane Brock Memorial Meet in Lander, but it was cancelled due to a spring snowstorm.
Head coach Steve Boyd said he was disappointed the team wasn't able to go to the Lander meet, but they were able to get in some quality practices on Friday and Saturday. He also said it gave some of those injured on the team, including junior standout Tyler Vendetti, a chance to rest.
Boyd said is he is hoping to get some top performances and pick up more state qualifiers at this weeks regional meet. The top eight in each event will qualify for the state event later this month in Casper.
"We're going to do the best we can," Boyd said.
Green River was however able to compete once last week at a meet in Mountain View where both the boys and girls teams walked away with first place finishes.
Senior Dylan Rust continued his tear in the discus and once-again finished in first place. Other first-place finishers for the Wolves included Andri Dewey in the 100 and 200-meters, Nicole Davis in the 1600 and Holly Huber in the 100 meter hurdles.
