Ladies ready for packed week

It’s going to be a busy week for the Green River High School soccer team, but that doesn’t bother head coach Tracy Wyant.

With three games in three days, Wyant is going to use it as an opportunity to prepare the team for the upcoming 4A West Regional and State Tournament, both in Rock Springs.

Green River (10-3-1, 6-0-1 4A West) will travel to meet Kelly Walsh Wednesday, Evanston Thursday, and then conclude the regular season Friday at home against Riverton.

Wyant said she’s not worried about her team playing the three games in a row and will use it as a warm up for postseason play.

“They are going to have to do it at regionals and state,” she said.

Due to a spring storm last weekend, the Lady Wolves only played one game last week. Green River played to a 2-2 tie with Casper-Natrona (7-4-2, 6-1-1 4A West). Despite trailing 2-0 at halftime, Wyant was pleased with the way the team played. She said it was one of there better first halves of the season, they just had a couple break downs defensively.

Green River was able to tie the game and send it to overtime with second-half goals from McKenzie Lucas and Lauren Hoyt.

A junior, Lucas got the Lady Wolves right back into the game with a goal in the first minute of the second half. Hoyt followed to tie the game and push the momentum to Green River

Wyant was pleased with how her team played in the second half and overtime.
