Kids tour police station

Kindergarten students from Washington Elementary had a chance to check out where Green River's police officers work and train Thursday afternoon.

Det. Luke Benson and Det. Karl Bode treated kids with a tour of the Green River Police Department building, showing them the department's inner workings. Children were also given the opportunity to check out a police car as one of the detectives explained the importance of the equipment and why drivers should pull over to the side of the road when officers are using their flashing lights.

While walking around the two-story building, the children also met other employees outside of the actual police force and hand a chance to look into rooms they would otherwise not have a chance to see.

The tour is one of many field trips students throughout the school district are embarking on during the last several weeks of school.

Other tours students will take part on in the coming weeks include trips to the Sweetwater County Historical Museum, City Hall and the county courthouse.
