Green River youth interested in learning about the city’s police department and how it functions will have a chance to attend a four-day academy hosted by the GRPD.
The department is accepting application for its Junior Citizen’s Academy through May 28. The course is limited to 20, with applicants required to be between the ages of 12 and 17 years old.
The applicants will also undergo a background check prior to their admittance.
The academy consists of classroom and hands-on instruction covering police functions such as patrol and investigations. Classes will take place at the police department from 1-5 p.m. starting June 2, with the program wrapping up June 5.
Residents can pick up applications at the Green River Police Department Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
