Squads demolish rival Rock Springs

In their first four games of the season, the Green River High School boy’s soccer team scored four goals.

The fifth game was a much different story as the Wolves came out of the gates strong April 9 against Rock Springs on their way to a crushing 6-0 victory in the first round of the Sweetwater Cup.

Green River opened scoring just four minutes into the game when senior Tanner Trumble scored on an assist from fellow senior Taten Knight.

Seven minutes later Kamden Carroll would take over the game with the first of three-straight first half goals, the last with on a header with an assist from senior Kyle Goglio.

Goglio would round up the dominating first half with a goal at the 35-minute mark on an assist from Knight.

Senior Chase Erickson scored the loan second half goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 67th minute.

“The early lead got the momentum started and helped us to play our game,” head coach Chris Bieber said. “I am very please with how we were able to continue finding the net.”

This Friday, Green River will travel to play at a two-day Pinnacle Soccer Cup Tournament in Worland. The Wolves will play four games at the tournament. They are scheduled to play Douglas and Star Valley Friday.

Bieber said his team will need to continue to work on the basics and win every 50/50 ball in the air.
