Kids enjoy Easter carnival at center

Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center was packed Friday morning with children of all ages attending the center's carnival.

Those who wanted to attend had to park on Uinta Drive and walk to the facility.

Inside, children and their parents were busy going from activity to activity. Some of the games children played were fishing, bean bags and ring toss. For the fishing game, children held a fishing pole and threw their line over the top of a sheet. Behind the sheet someone put a prize or ticket on the line. This person then tugged on the line and the child would then jerk the line back to see what they won. The kids were excited to see a prize or ticket at the end of the line.

During the ring toss, children were encouraged to try and get as many rings as they could over a bunny's ears or arms. The plastic blow up bunny would rock back and forth, which made it difficult for children to keep the rings on it.

The game with the longest line was the bean bag game. Children would patiently wait their turns for a shot to try and get all of the bean bags in the holes. The children would receive tickets based on how well they did. When the children were done playing games, they eagerly counted their tickets to see which prize they could trade their tickets in for. Children could choose from a variety of bigger prizes, including bubbles, balls, eggs filled with candy, cards and other trinkets.

When children were not busy playing games, they were either makings crafts or competing in the cake walk.

Children were encouraged to make an Easter basket out of paper plates in the craft room. Once the basket was made, they put stickers and ribbon on them.

During the cake walk, children were asking to walk around in a circle while music played. Once the music stopped, they made sure to stay on the number from 1-15 that they landed on. A CRRC resident would pull a number out of a bucket. Whoever's number was selected could go to a table full of cakes and pick one out.

The bunny and chick shaped cakes went first, and then the egg-shaped cakes were next. Those who didn't have any lucky at the cake walk could purchase just about any kind of treat they could think of from four tables full of desserts and treats for sale.
