The Green River High School track team will have around 70 kids competing during the 2015 season.
Head coach Steve Boyd said the number of kids who came out is about normal.
“If you were to look at an area where we have strength in numbers it would be the boys shot and discus,” Boyd said. “We have six or seven guys there battling for the top four sports on the regional team.”
Overall, Boyd said the team has some quality individuals in different events, but they do lack the depth necessary to score a lot of team points at most meets.
“We will focus on individual development and being the best we can be at what we do. Our coaching staff is well experienced and knowledgable in their specialized areas,” he said.
Holly Huber, Josie Givens, and Tyler Vendetti also return for Green River as state placers at the 2014 Wyoming State meet in Casper.
“We look for them to have big years,” Boyd said.
He added senior Dylan Rust looks like he is ready to have a big senior year in the throwing events.
