George Clinton "Skinny" Field, 95, of Rock Springs, passed away March 29, 2015 at Deseret Health and Rehab in Rock Springs.
A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of Lyman, Field passed away following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1919 in Lyman, the son of the late John W. Field and Mary Hobson Field.
Field attended schools in Lyman and graduated from Lyman High School with the class of 1937.
He married Ida Marie White on Nov.24, 1944 and they later divorced. He married Grace Scott Schurman in Rock Springs Dec. 21, 1965.
Field served in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked as a union carpenter and also worked as a rancher for many ranches throughout the LaBarge and Big Piney area. He tended bar at the Capital Bar for many years.
Field was a member of the Eagles Fraternal Order No. 151 and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His interests included fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Grace Field of Rock Springs; two sons, Paul Field of Veyo, Utah and John Field of Tujunga, Calif .; seven daughters, Gail Fortuna of Rock Springs, Gladys Arnett of Brighton, Colo., Bonnie Hanks of Green River, Betty Newman of Arizona, Lois Field of Cedar City, Utah and Lynn Montgomery of Kamiah, Idaho; 30 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gary Field and John Schurman; one grandson, Jay Fortuna; one daughter, Donna Fleming; son-in-law Joseph Fortuna; four siblings who passed away in infancy; two sisters, Dottie Whitney and Emily Louise Newton; and three brothers, Nile Field, Joe Field and Harold "Nub" Field.
Funeral services will take place Friday at the L.D.S. Stake Center, 2055 Edgar Street, Rock Springs. Military honors and interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
