Team finishes second at huge Riverton tourney

The Green River Middle School wrestling team wrapped up a successful 2015 season late last month.

Head coach Josh Wisniewski said he was really happy with the way the season went.

"We had our ups and downs this year, but we finished very strong with a 2nd place finish at the Riverton Invitational," he said. "We had a good mix of wrestlers in the room. Some with a lot of wrestling experience and some with very little to none. My assistant coaches (Adam Baker, Michael Aimone) and I pushed them this year and the wrestlers came in the wrestling room and responded very well."

Wisniewski said the teams goal every year is to to get the wrestlers prepared for high school wrestling by becoming better students in the classroom, helping them construct better work ethic habits in practice, using team building concepts to work hard for one another, and teaching technique that will help them be successful high school wrestlers.

"The coaches are excited to watch our eight graders as they transition to high school next year and we look forward to working with next year's crop of wrestlers. We are GR!" he said.

The eighth grade members of the team were Trea Fantin, Tanner Adam, Justin Case, Jacob Chavez, Ryan Deutsch, Russell Ferrell, Justin Flores, Garrett Harris, Mason Olyer and Brett McKeehan.

The seventh grade members of the team were Trevor Scicluna, Anthony Wood, Luke Nathan, Trevor Moser, Tavean Montoya, Roberto Mena, Kaden Lloyd, Kade Knezovich, Tayler Jensen, Walker Gonzalez, Nathan Campos, Payton Tucker and Jacob Mondragon.

The sixth grade members of the team were Garrett Blaisdell, Clayson Mele, Gabe Patton, Matthew Rawson, Max Orr, Dominic Martinez, Canaan Eslick, Jon Ty Leininger, Logan Deinhardt and Kade Flores.

The managers of the team were eighth graders Mckalya Cuthbertson and Emilee Mandros.
