The Green River High School girl’s basketball team will face a familiar foe Thursday night at the 4A West Regional Tournament in Evanston.
The Lady Wolves (2-18, 0-10 4A West) will battle Kelly Walsh High School at 7 p.m. just five days after the two teams concluded the regular season Saturday, with Kelly Walsh picking up a 58-41 road win.
Green River head coach Rick Carroll said the team is preparing to be ready for the Trojans and to improve on things from the game Saturday.
He said the team did better Saturday against Kelly Walsh than they did in a 56-20 loss Feb. 7 in Casper.
Looking to the Thursday matchup, Carroll said they will need to do a better job in the half court and play better defensively.
He said if they take care of those few things, that can definitely get the regional win.
If the Lady Wolves win Thursday, they will qualify for the state tournament and will advance to the regional semifinals. A loss will end their season.
“It puts all the emphasis on one game and that’s exciting. They understand how important the game is and they are getting ready to go,” Carroll said.
