Dear Editor,
Mental illness. Does that make you shake? Does it make chills go down your spine?
Well, it shouldn’t. Mental illness is a real think in this community and not something out of a horror movie. So many individuals are struggling with this, but it is hard for them to come forward because of the stigma associated with those words.
You cannot tell me you didn’t form an opinion when you read those words. Well, I’m here to show that it is a true battle for individuals that are facing it and something I know personally about.
For years I have fought this inner war with myself because of my mental illness, but there is hope, even though it may not seem like it.
I want to provide another opportunity for those fighting, whether it be you, a friend, or family member. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Sweetwater County is a support and advocacy group here to provide hope to those who need it.
Feel free to join us at White Mountain Library, in the small group room, every second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
Hope to see you there!
