Crystal Classic well attended

The weather may not have been the best for the ice carving, but it sure helped the Crystal Classic's attendance.

"I thought it was amazing. It was the biggest turnout we've ever had. Every year just seems to get better," Green River recreation supervisor Katie Duncombe.

Duncombe said all of Saturday's events were really well attended. From the ice carving itself, to the ice-cube hunt, S'mores stations, horse-drawn carriage rides, snow boot softball, 5k run and horseshoes.

The only event Duncombe would like to see improve in attendance is the soup cook off. This year, they had six entries which was just enough to have a friendly competition. However, Duncombe would like to see that program grow. The event is always well received by the public and something they seem to enjoy.

"I wish we could get more people in it," she said.

Duncombe thought that by adding a people's choice award to the program might give more an incentive to give it a try.

"I always just worry. It's about the person and not the soup," she said about the people's choice award.

As for changing any of the other events, it is too soon to tell. Duncombe said they always pass out surveys and will review all of those surveys to determine where changes, if any, need to be made.
