The Green River High School girl’s basketball team will look to get their first conference win Thursday night at home against Evanston at 5:30 p.m.
Last week, Green River faced it’s roughest road test of the year and dropped a 65-22 contest to No. 1 Natrona High School Friday and lost to Kelly Walsh 56-20 Saturday.
Head coach Rick Carroll said it was a tough road trip and they battled two big and physical teams.
He said this week the team has some things they really need to work on.
“One is taking care of the basketball and the other is rebounding,” he said.
After the road trip, he said the biggest thing the team needs to do is not matter what they have coming agains them, they need to play hard and keep up their intensity.
On a positive note, Carroll said the team is doing some good things on defense and they need to continue to do that.
In their first matchup of the season, The Red Devils (4-12, 1-4 4A West) won 54-26 at home.
Carroll said the girls play more often on the road so having a Thursday night game is great and should be a benefit for the team.
“They enjoy having the support,” he said.
In their last home game, Green River nearly upended rival Rock Springs in a 42-39 thriller.
On Friday, the Lady Wolves will travel to Riverton. In their first game of the season earlier this month, Green River fell at home, 51-36.
