It won’t take long for the new aquatic center at Green River High School to host a major event.
The center which opened late last year, will host the 4A West Conference Swim Meet Feb. 13 and 14.
“This is really cool. It’s the first time we actually got be be home for a conference meet. We haven’t held a big event in our home pool for a long time,” Green River head swimming coach Colleen Seiloff said. “Hopefully it’s the first of many to come and it’s very exciting.”
Seiloff, who coaches both the boys and girls teams, said having the meet in Green River will allow the kids a chance to go home and sleep in their own beds and hopefully will have a large number of supporters.
“I think the kids are thrilled to get to have conference in front of our home crowd,” she said.
Following conference, the team will have a last chance meet next week to allow athletes one more chance to qualify for the state tournament that will take place Feb. 26 and 27 in Gillette.
