Wolves prep for CSHS

The Green River High School boy’s basketball team will be gunning for their first win of the year Friday night with a return trip to play Cheyenne South High School.

The two 4A squads also played last Friday night in Cheyenne, with the Bison picking up the 67-28 victory.

The Wolves will be coming into the game after arguably their most competitive game of the season last Saturday afternoon, a 57-46 loss to Cheyenne Central.

Head coach Dan LaRose said the team went into the game with senior Hayden Love and junior Kamden Carroll both nursing injuries from the Friday night game against Central. Because of the injuries, LaRose said he was worried about depth, but the bench came in and played really well.

“We battled and had the lead for awhile, we run ran out of depth and gas at the same time,” LaRose said.

With a return matchup Friday against South, LaRose said Green River did not handle their pressure last week and how important it will be to get into a half court set and to take care of the ball.

LaRose added that hopefully the confidence of the close game last Saturday will give the team a confidence and pay dividends this weekend.

Following the Friday game, Green River will travel 45 miles west to take on 5-3 Laramie.

The Wolves will open conference play next week with a Thursday road game at Evanston. They will open their home conference season Saturday against Riverton.
