Robert Leonard Smith

Robert Leonard Smith, 81, of Rock Springs passed away Jan. 10, 2015. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Superior, Smith passed away following a brief illness.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1933 in Thermopolis, the son of the late Frank Stephen Smith and Catherine Ann Zurich.

He attended schools in Superior and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1951.

Smith married Frances A. Jereb in Rock Springs Dec. 1, 1960.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956.

Smith worked as a draftman coordinator for the FMC Corporation for 56 years until his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles #151 and the American Fraternal Union.

Survivors include his wife Frances A. Smith of Rock Springs; one son, Robert Smith of Rock Springs; one niece, Susan Jackson and husband Roy of Rock Springs; one nephew, Gordon Olson and wife Kandice of Price, Utah and one great niece Shirley Lowseth and husband Ernest of Rock Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Catherine Smith; two sisters, Helen Stoffa and Blasia Olson; one brother, Florian Duyacuff and one nephew, Irvin Olson.

Cremation has taken place and at his request there will be no services.
