Mary Ellen Morris

Mary Ellen Morris, 88, of Rock Springs passed away Jan. 7, 2015  at her daughter's home in Rock Springs. A lifetime resident of Rock Springs, Morris passed away following a brief illness.

She was born on June 27, 1926 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late William H. Welsh and Etta Mae Kitterman.

Morris attended schools in Rock Springs.

She married Richard "Dick" Morris in Evanston on Aug. 1,1950 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1984.

Morris was the co-owner of the A & D Motel in Rock Springs for many years and was a co-owner of Dick's Taxi Service.

She was a member of the Eagles Women's Auxillary for 25 years.

Her interests included having coffee with her family and friends, talking and telling stories of things that happened to the family while they were growing up. 

She loved spending time with her family. Her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great grandkids always brought a smile to her face and heart.

Survivors include one daughter, Becky Riddle of Rock Springs; two grandchildren, Lorie Cantrell and husband Kevin and Leslie Whittaker and husband Bill, all of Rock Springs; four great-grandchildren, Richard Cantrell and wife Alexis, Shane Cantrell and wife Shyanne, Sierra Whittaker and Cassie Whittaker; all of Rock Springs; great-great grandchildren Noah and Roxanne Cantrell and Sophia Cantrell, all of Rock Springs and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Morris; one son-in-law Ron Riddle; brothers and sister-in-laws Lawrence "Jarbo" Welsh and wife Mary, William T. "Boots" Welsh and wife Lillian"Tune", Henry "Pink" Welsh and wife Merch, Jack "Red" Welsh and wife Madeline and Joseph "Pee Wee" Welsh and wife Helen and sister Margurite "Marge" Garetson and husband Paul.

Funeral services took place Tuesday. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, 802 Thompson Street in Rock Springs.
