It was a good weekend for the Green River High School girl's basketball team.
The Lady Wolves won two out of three games at the 20th annual Flaming Gorge basketball tournament and are now 2-2 on the season.
Green River opened the tournament with a thrilling 44-43 win over Kemmerer Thursday. The Lady Wolves carried over the momentum Friday with a 53-22 victory over visiting Manilla.
In the final game of the three-day tournament, Green River was upended by Mountain View, 47-31.
Green River head coach Aric Hanusa said the team has not played together a lot, and are a work in progress, but they are getting better in every game and every half. After picking up their first win of the season Thursday, against the Lady Rangers, junior Averee Cobb said the victory game them momentum and the commitment to keep pushing on.
"We know we can win and we know what we have to do to win," she said.
Moving forward, Hanusa said the team needs to continue to believe in each other.
The first-year coach said he was pleased with the teams play defensively and they are going to keep improving in that area.
The team will be off for the holidays and not play again until Jan. 2 against Star Valley.
