Mary W. "Polly" Vollmer

Mary W. "Polly" Vollmer, 87, of Rock Springs passed away on Dec. 25 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A resident of Rock Springs since 2013 and former resident of Denver; Tucson, Ariz. and Oak Park, Ill., Vollmer died following an illness of one week.

She was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of the late Harold W. Parthemer and Mary R. Fletcher.

Vollmer attended schools in Oak Park, Ill. and graduated from high school there. She also attended the University of Illinois.

She married Donald Edward Vollmer on Nov. 27, 1948 in Oak Park, Ill, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1992 in Tucson, Ariz. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors include son Jeff Vollmer and wife Deborah of Rock Springs, daughter Anne Vollmer of Green River. She is survived by grandchildren Elizabeth Bingham and husband Eric, Lindsay Cowan and husband Mark and Taylor Vollmer. Great grandchildren are Graydon Bingham, Bailey and Gracie Cowan and Dylan and Delaney Vollmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.

Cremation has taken place at the White Mountain Crematory in Rock Springs. Memorial Services will be held in Tucson, Ariz. at a later date.
