John Jay Baker, 55, of Rock Springs passed away Dec. 10, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He was a long time resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Farmington, N.M.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1959 in Berea, Ohio, the son of Wayne and Donna Baker.
Baker attended schools in Strasberg, Colo. and graduated from the Strasberg High School.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Ariz.
He married Tamara M. Weaver in Strasberg, Colo. on June 4, 1983.
Baker was employed as a corrosion tech for Enterprise Production.
His interests were playing darts and was a member of the Jenkin’s Dart Club. He also liked hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends. He especially liked his buddies Koda, Kali, Doby and Chloie.
Survivors include his wife Tammie Baker of Rock Springs; his father Wayne Baker of Ohio; four daughters, Heather Wendeborn and husband Brian and Alicia Dowdy and husband Jack, all of Farmington, N.M., Heidi Smith and husband Anthony of Rock Springs, and Melissa Guertin and husband Jeff of Minneapolis, Minn .; one sister, Suzynne Frree of Ohio; seven grandchildren Braidyn, Anthony Jr., Jaxen, Aubree, Summer, Kyla, Addisyn, Jaidyn and McKenzie.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother Gary.
Cremation will take place and memorial services will military honors will be conducted at 10 a.m. Jan. 3, 2015 at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to services.
