Bode makes return trip to Denver event

For the second straight season, Green River's Karlee Bode will be making a trip to compete at the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Team Championship in Denver.

The ten-year-old student at Monroe Intermediate School will look to advance to the national competition at the contest that will take place Dec. 7 at the Denver Broncos Practice Facility in Dove Valley, Colo.

Bode advanced to the team championship after winning the city competition for an amazing fifth straight year, then the sectional competition that took place in Riverton.

The top four scorers throughout Wyoming, Utah, Montana and Colorado qualified for the Denver Bronco Team Championship Event.

She finished fourth last year at the Broncos Team Championship.

Bode said that winning last year in Riverton gave her a lot of confidence.

She said this year in Denver she would like to finish first or a least second.

"That would be awesome," she said.

At last year's competition in Denver, Bode said she was really nervous and won't be as much this year.

She will be the youngest competitor in her age group.

Bode said she probably does best at punting and will start practicing more.

Along with being excited for the competition, Bode said it will be awesome to see her favorite player Peyton Manning and the rest of the Broncos take on the Buffalo Bills.

At the conclusion of last year's event, Bode was able to see the Broncos play and kicker Matt Prater kick an NFL record 64-yard- field goal.

The National Finals will take place in January at an NFL playoff game to be determined.
