Mary Ruth Thomas Gardner, 60, of Green River, passed away Nov. 18 in Rock Springs after a lengthy battle of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born Feb. 28, 1954 in Ogden, Utah to evangelist, Reverend James Paul and Mary Ellen Thomas. She was one of 11 siblings. She went to school and graduated from Ogden, Utah and later moved to Green River. She worked at FMC from 1974 to 1998 in data processing and later at the front desk. She was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 1998. Mary is the proud mother of her only daughter Rebecca (Becky) Messer. Mary was married to Jim Gardner Oct. 7, 1990. Mary has been a woman of God who has loved her family and church families she has been a part of. She especially was proud of her three grandchildren, Taimee, Jacob and Kayln. Mary is survived by her husband Jim Gardner of Green River; daughter Rebecca Messer and son-in- law Kevin Messer; three grandchildren Taimie Messer, Jacob Messer, and Kalyn Messer; two 2 brothers, Daniel Thomas and David Thomas; and two sisters, Lois Cummings and Hannah Berret. Mary is preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory in Rock Springs. A private ceremony has already taken place.
