Hix nabs all-conference accolades

One week after finishing their season at the state tournament, the Green River Lady Wolves had one player named to the 4A West All-Conference team.

Junior setter Hattie Hix was named to the team after a vote by the coaches in the conference.

Head coach Rikki Shantz said that throughout the season Hix was a competitor.

“We had a lot of success at the end of the season and peaked at the right time. I think a lot of that had to do with her,” Shantz said. “She came to practice every single day wanting to work hard, wanting to be competitive, and wanting her teammates to get better every single day.”

Hix was sixth in the 4A West Conference in scoring and fourth in assists. She was fifth in the entire class 4A in assists with 7.9 per contest.

Shantz said Hix started the past two years at setter and played every minute of every game.

She described Hix as like the quarterback or point guard for the Lady Wolves.

Not only did she say Hix had to watch what the other teams were doing, she had to keep an eye on who was hot for Green River.

She added Hix was a true leader and a person they really relied during the season.

While pleased that Hix was selected, Shantz said she was surprised no other Lady Wolves received all-conference accolades.
