With Halloween this Friday, the Green River Police Department is encouraging pedestrians and motorists alike to use caution when going to their destinations.
GRPD public relations officer Luke Benson said younger children who are trick or treating should be accompanied by an adult; while older children should always travel in groups.
Motorists are encouraged to approach each intersection with extra caution, while pedestrians should only use designated crosswalks.
As for costumes, Benson said if a costume is light in color it should be easy to see a child, however, if the costume is dark in color then reflective tape should be stuck to the costumes so they are easier to see at night.
After receiving candy, children should always have an adult check it prior to eating. Children should never eat unwrapped candy, he said. Extra officers will be on duty Halloween night. Benson said a couple of police cars will have a giant lighted pumpkin on top. If a person sees these cars they should flag them down to get some candy, he said.
