Defeat Kelly Walsh, Natrona
One month into the season, Green River High School swimming coach Colleen Seiloff is pleased with the progress of her 2014 squad.
The steady growth of the team was apparent last Saturday at a multi dual event at Monroe Pool in Green River.
The Lady Wolves picked up two wins including a 142 to 26 win over Casper Natrona and a 99 to 84 win over Kelly Walsh High School.
The dual meet also included Rock Springs and Evanston High Schools.
Seiloff said the team swam very well and there were a lot of good times and time.
She said they girls are really working hard.
If all goes well, the Saturday dual meet was the last high school event to take place at Monroe. The new aquatic center is slated to take place at the end of September.
Green River had several overall first place finishers at the event including Jesse Lauze in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard breaststroke, Avery Otto-Horn in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and Shyana Hunt in the 100-yard backstroke.
Fishing in second place for Green River were Dakota Neumann in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke, and Taylor Orr in the 100-yard freestyle.
Other top finishers for the Lady Wolves included Elizabeth Barker finishing fourth and Taylor Orr finishing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle, Brianna Rath finishing third in diving, Emily Allen with a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and Kaylee Plott with a fourth place time in the 100-yard freestyle.
STATE QUALIFIERS
So far, a total of five Lady Wolves have qualified for the state meet that will take place next month in Gillette.
Leading the way for Green River is freshman sensation Otto-Horn who has already qualified in eight events.
Neumann, a junior has already qualified for four state events. Sophomore Shyana Hunt and freshman Jesse Lauze have qualified in two events, and Emily Allen has qualified in the 100 butterfly.
