Henrico "Henry" Lawrence Carson, 82, of Rock Springs passed away Sept. 19, 2014 at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital after a longterm illness.
He was a longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Salt Lake City.
He was born on April 5,1932 in Mancos, Colo., the son of the late Rosinda Archuletta Vigil.
Henry was raised from birth by his grandmother Victoria Padilla and Juan Carson, known as "Daddy Juan." His mother later married Rufino Lee Vigil and Henry became a part of the Vigil family and enjoyed having brothers and sisters.
Carson attended schools in Salt Lake City and Rock Springs and received his GED.
He married Rosie Cordova in Rock Springs on Dec. 1, 1951.
Carson worked as a mechanic for various trucking companies and worked for the Laborers Union until his retirement in 1994.
His interests included hunting with family, working on vehicles, watching football, woodworking and telling stories.
Survivors include his wife Rosie Carson of Rock Springs; one son, Andrew Carson and wife Patricia Mudd of St. Louis, Mo .; six daughters, Victoria Louise Carson of Rock Springs, Angela Rose Gomez and husband Pete of Rock Springs, Lilian Bernadette Knight and husband Mikil of St. Louis, Mo., Kathleen Barden and husband Kenneth of Rock Springs, Marjorie Jacqueline Riddle and husband Chris of Buffalo and Christi Juanita Carson and husband Gregory Madic of Rock Springs; four brothers, Kent, Steven and Joseph Vigil and Al Manzanarez; seven sisters, Suzi, Delores, Jenny, Francis, Roberta and Victoria; 16 grandchildren, Tonya, Larry, Brandy, Misty, Henrico, Crystal, Justin, Jenny, Amber, Milles, James, Robert, David, Hailee, Luci and Daniel and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sons Lawrence and John and sister Phyllis.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs. A vigil service with rosary will be conducted at the church at 6 p.m., Thursday. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of rosary and again Friday morning at the church until time of services.
