It was a clean sweep for the Green River High School tennis team.
Competing last Saturday against Torrington in Rawlins, the Wolves boys and girls team both picked up 3-2 wins over the Red Raiders.
The boys were led by their three doubles teams who each picked up a victory.
Playing at number one doubles, Jacob Lock and McCaden Mikesell defeated Zach Posten and Mondell Tolman, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
The number two team of Adrun James and Brandon Lee beat Jon Cummings and Hunter Ostler, 6-1, 6-0.
Cody Lee and Brenden Bloomquist picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at number three doubles.
The Lady Wolves were sparked by strong play at singles with number one Ann Ujvary picking up a 6-3, 6-2 win and number two Bailey Deverick also was victorious with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Emily Zavorka.
The number one doubles team of McKenzie Lucas and Isabel Leininger also picked up a victory for Green River with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Van Chavez and Shalon Brooks.
RIVALRY
Green River started last week with a rivalry matchup against Rock Springs High School.
The Lady Wolves did their best to overcome a strong Rock Springs team with a 6-3, 6-3 win by Ujvary and a 6-0, 6-0, win by Deverick over Gretchen Baldwin.
The Lady Tigers were able to seal the victory with wins in the three doubles matches.
Lucas and Leininger lost a 3-6, 4-6 match to Lexy Newman and Zoe Baldwin, Cassie Deverick and Holly Huber lost a 0-6, 6-7 match to Keeri Klein and Tasha Bently, and Palmer and Edwards lost a 1-6, 0-6 matchup against Lady Tigers Leah Allen and Casey Swedlund.
The boy’s were only able to win one of five matches against their rivals with James and Lee picking up a 6-4, 6-2 win at number two doubles.
Lock and Mikesell lost a three set match two Josh Rawson and Tucker Leibee.
Taten Knight lost 6-3, 7-5 at number one singles, and Alexander Marchal lost 4-6, 1-6 to Tony Lew.
Lee and Bloomquist lost a 1-6, 3-6 match to Jameson Fuja and Tristan VanValkenberg.
