A 69-year-old fisherman from Riverton, Utah is missing after an inflatable boat he and his 62-year-old girlfriend were sharing capsized on the Flaming Gorge Resevoir.
The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office in Daggett County, Utah reports they are searching for Charles Darrell Thomas, with multiple agencies assisting in the search.
According to press releases from the sheriff’s office, they were notified of a capsized boat at about 4 p.m. Monday, with the unidentified 62-year-old woman reporting that their small boat capsized during a trip from the Antelope Flats area to Lucerne Marina.
The woman was able to swim to shore and sought help from a nearby camp after the incident.
Wind gusts and choppy water was reported at the time of the capsizing, which made conditions difficult for the boaters.
Releases state both the woman and Thomas had seat cushions that were listed as type-four flotation devices.
