Grace V. Shell

Grace V. Shell, 93, of Rock Springs passed away on Aug. 23 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and Reliance, Shell passed away following a lengthy illness.

She was born on Aug. 1, 1921 in Alabama, the daughter of the late George Bailey Elliott and Patience Smith.

She married Jack Alan Shell, Sr.  in Georgia on July 22, 1949 and he preceded her in death in Salt Lake City on May 16, 1971.

Shell was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Her interests included taking care of the children and her church at Emmanuel Baptist and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters Lola Gebhardt of Rock Springs, and Lee Miller and husband Pete of Utah; nine grandchildrren April Shurtleff and husband Gerald of Cheyenne, Nathan, Matthew, Joshua, Daniel, Sarah, David, Benjamin and Rachel Miller of Corrine, Utah; three great-grandchildren Morgan Gebhardt of Rock Springs, Macy Billings and Mercedes Shurtleff of Cheyenne, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Alan Shell, Sr., one brother; one son Jack Alan Shell, Jr .; one grandson Deon M. Gebhardt and one son-in-law George F. Gebhardt.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service took place today. Inurnment took place at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, north of Rock Springs.
