This past week the Green River Wolves hit the road to take on 3A rival the Lander Tigers in their conference opener for the 2023 season. The teams have a lot of similarities, including having new head coaches, both of whom have experience coaching 3A football. The Wolves Golf team finished up their regular season at the Pinedale Invitational last weekend. "Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course was in excellent condition and really challenged our team," Assistant Coach Danielle Salas said. "Many of our golfers rose to the challenge." This past week the Wolves Tennis team was on the road with mixed results. On Thursday, August 31 they traveled to Rawlins. The girls beat the Lady Outlaws 3-2. The Lady Wolves’ #1 and #2 Singles players and #1 Doubles team all won their matches, while the #2 and #3 Doubles teams lost. The boys also succeeded in their team competition, winning 4-1, with the only loss coming in a close #1 Singles three-set match. Green River's Tavia Arnell dominated the pool and was the overall winner of the Laramie Pentathlon that took place in Laramie on Saturday. There were more than 88 swimmers that competed in the event. A new era in Green River Football started with arrival of new Head Coach Blaine Christensen and an almost completely new group of mostly younger assistant coaches. Many of the assistant coaches played football for and graduated from Green River High School and then went on to play, and in one case coach, college football.
