Although it was born out of necessity last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the drive-thru live nativity at the First Church of the Nazarene may become a regular Christmas tradition for the community. “People seem to be glad it will be back for a second year,” Bonnie Arnold said. “I have heard some very positive comments.” The live nativity started last Christmas when the Church of the Nazarene realized they would have to cancel their annual community choir performance of Handel’s “Messiah....

Cards will be stamped with a special Pony Express stamp and placed into a mochila — a special bag used by Pony Express riders, named for the Spanish word meaning “bag,” which is typically made of leather and designed to fit over a saddle. The cards will then be carried on horseback from the Green River Post Offic...
After an unusual and difficult year, the Green River High School speech and debate team is getting back to debating. “COVID hit us hard,” Coach Dan Parson said. Without being able to travel for tournaments or have debates in person last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program struggled to maintain a normal year. According to Parson, many students who would have been involved with speech and debate lost interest and took part in other activities, such as theater, band, and FFA. “So we we...

That’s where the “Little Shoppers” event comes in. “The purpose of the event is to allow students to shop for Christmas presents for their families which are sold at below...

Food often plays a crucial role in holiday celebrations — especially Thanksgiving. However, many families face food insecurity and need extra help making ends meet during the holiday season. This is one of the reasons there is an increased need for the services of Food Bank of Sweetwater County during the winter, and why local organizations like the Scouts BSA step up to help meet the need. “I know that Wyoming does have a hunger problem,” Kathy Siler, the executive director of Food Bank of Sw...

The theater can be many things, but one is a place of escape - somewhere to get away, to laugh, to have fun and to forget the troubles of life for at least a little bit. "Monty Python's Spamalot" is a musical based on the film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." GRHS Theater Director Bradlee Skinner said the musical follows the storyline of the film closely while...
