A new business offering clothing and other locally-sourced gifts recently opened a physical location on Flaming Gorge Way. Twisted Timber Apparel initially started as an online shop last November, but has since grown to a physical location at 560 E. Flaming Gorge. According to the business's owner, Kayla Duncan, she's happy to have a physical location because shopping for clothing online isn't the same experience as doing in person. "There's something about trying on cloths, touching and feeling...

Dear Editor, There is NO relationship more intimate than pregnancy. Since we can’t yet even agree on when life begins, we each will have our own perspectives, assign our own meanings and decide by our own measures where we stand on this hot-button issue. It should be clear and certain that both the choice and the consequences belong to each woman based upon her own particular circumstances, not to you legislators. This is not, repeat, NOT a group decision! Men are, of course, entitled to their opinions, and that’s it. We’re not asserting that y...

An early season match with the Jackson Broncs didn’t end the way the Wolves would have preferred when the game ended with a 4-0 defeat for the Wolves. The Wolves struggled throughout the first half as the Broncs maintained control of the ball and scored three goals on the Green River squad. Head coach Jorge Salsedo said the pep talk he and the coaches had with the boys during halftime helped get the group into the game for the second half. “We had a nice talk,” he said. “We talked about the hard...
The Green River High School girls soccer team faced a disappointing loss last Thursday, coming up short against Jackson, who beat them 4-1. “Honestly we were in the game until probably about 10 minutes left,” Coach Matthew Robles said. The Lady Wolves started the game behind, with Jackson scoring two goals early on. Green River fought back, however, and scored with about 30 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately trying to catch back up ended up leading to mistakes. “We were pressing too hard...

CHEYENNE — This past session of the Legislature was a mostly productive time for Wyoming’s burgeoning digital money industry. These organizations use massive amounts of computing power – along with correspondingly large portions of electricity – to rapidly perform calculations in order to virtually mint digital currency. They scored some legislative wins at the state Capitol in this past session, which wrapped up earlier this month. As detailed in a recent article in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, these virtual miners got some changes to state l...
CHEYENNE —In perhaps Gov. Mark Gordon’s final action regarding bills that passed the state Legislature during its recently completed budget session, he vetoed some legislation Friday and allowed others to become law without his signature. One such bill that can proceed, although without the governor’s explicit approval, is the Legislature’s redistricting plan. State lawmakers voted to add three colleagues after the next election, and the bill therefore has gone by the moniker of the 62-31 plan. In his message explaining why he was not OK’ing...
While much of Jim Bridger's history comes directly from Wyoming, an antique gun shop in Arizona may hold more information about the mountain man's influential past. David Jonas and his wife Patty have been dealers in antique and collectible firearms since 2005. They started their store, Old World Guns LLC in Camp Verde, Arizona, as a retirement business, although Jonas said it's been more work than a typical retirement business. The shop specializes in old and unusual firearms, and Jonas enjoys...
For many residents, the day the old Lincoln High School was torn down was the closing of an era in Green River. The school building’s gymnasium caught fire during the evening of Nov. 12, 2006. Green River firefighters battled the blaze through the night, successfully keeping the blaze from spreading to the rest of the building. In the aftermath, an investigation would point to the cause being suspicious, no one would be arrested for starting the fire. “It was suspicious. Something caused it tha...
