Caplan said one of the main reasons the company is calling workers back is that many of its older workers, some of whom have worked for more than 40 years at the facil...

The long-running Veteran’s Day program hosted by Lincoln Middle School will not happen this year. Lori Hastert, the sixth-grade teacher at Lincoln Middle School, said the school decided not to host the event due to concerns with hosting a COVID-19 spreader event amongst students and veterans. “The veterans mean the world to us, but they need their health,” Hastert said. “Right now, we just can’t do this.” She said the cancelation extends to the signs placed along Uinta Drive because they weren’t able to adhere with social distancing an...

As much as any of us hate to admit it, winter weather has arrived. Along with having to worry about shoveling driveways and sidewalks, many of Green River’s residents will also contend with slick roads and the possibility of driving during a nasty blizzard at some point during the next several months. We’ll keep our request short this week: Please drive carefully. The first storms of the year tend to result in a lot of vehicle collisions as people are not used to driving on snow and ice. While much of the weekend storm has melted off by the...
I don’t think I’m alone when I say this: I can’t wait for this election season to end. My reasons probably differ from most people -- through I can’t remember a previous presidential election being such a slog to experience. I blame social media for that feeling. But, the thing that I’m looking forward to most is this: President Donald Trump’s campaign team will stop blowing up my personal email’s inbox. The volume of email I’ve received from the Trump campaign has been absolutely jaw dropping to say the least. I’d say the word aggressive i...
Dear Editor Under a bill that went before the State Senate in February, an additional 3,000+ Wyoming resident hunters would have drawn an antelope tag this year. But, the bill, Senate File 94, failed on introduction. In fact, just one state senator, Larry Hicks of Carbon County, voted to introduce it. Sweetwater County (District 12) Senator, Liisa Anselmi-Dalton co-sponsored the bill, but then at vote time, she switched sides and voted against introduction! When it counted, Sen. Anselmi-Dalton sided with the greedy outfitters and entitled nonre...
ROCK SPRINGS — Sweetwater County residents were doing something right. The number of positive COVID-19 cases were dropping and remaining at low levels for more than a month. With the number of positive cases on the rise again, many healthcare providers know how easy it is to become complacent and are encouraging residents to continue to take precautions. Physicians and providers at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County are no exception. They continue to look for ways to ensure the public knows how important it is to take the appropriate p...
CHEYENNE – Donald Trump and Joe Biden were no-shows, but the last presidential debate of the 2020 election cycle happened Saturday night among little-known independent candidates at the Little America Hotel and Resort in Cheyenne. While each candidate is running on a different platform, all of them share the same belief that the country’s two-party election system is flawed and ripe for revision. Distant from both Washington and the disruptive tone set during Biden and Trump’s face-off a few weeks ago, the candidates who debated here stuck...

In a game that was much closer than the score indicates, the Star Valley Braves pulled away from the Wolves for the victory, eliminating the Wolves from the playoffs. The Wolves moved the ball initially on their first possession, but an interception ended the drive and Star Valley mounted a long drive on the ground before scoring on a short pass. A P.A.T., failed, but Star Valley had a quick 6-0 lead. The Wolves then mounted a six-play drive, with the big play and 31-yard run by senior running...
