The Green River High School Speech and Debate Team once again brought home a first-place trophy after beating one of the most competitive teams. It was the first time this year the GRHS Speech and Debate Team competed against Cheyenne East, but they came out on top. Amid a budget crunch, the Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center will host a fundraiser to help cover costs. Bitter winter weather conditions caused Green River schools to close Thursday and busses to break down Friday. For some seniors at the Golden Hour Senior Center, craft time is something they do to hang out with their friends. The second part of the Green River High School’s Speech and Debate season was kicked off with a first-place finish in Powell. On Friday the team traveled to Powell to compete against 20 schools and around 300 students from Wyoming and Montana. January of 2016 set the tone for the year with seniors starting off trying to get healthy both physically and mentally. The Golden Hour Senior Center offered a wide-range of classes to help seniors improve their health. Cooks and bakers were busy preparing and serving Christmas dinner last Thursday at the Golden Hour Senior Center. For the cooking staff at GHSC, the day started at 5 or 6 in the morning.
