This means that although the cars did leave the track, they didn't flip onto the side or roll over completely. South said she did not know what the cars that derailed contained. The derailment could easily be seen from the Greenbelt...
Around noon last Thursday, traffic on Uinta Drive was diverted and two businesses were evacuated after a contractor hit a gas line. According to Darren Shepherd, Dominion Energy Wyoming spokesman, a contractor completing work near two businesses hit a one-way feed, 2-inch plastic gas line. Those two businesses were Edward Jones and Dimensions Beauty Salon. "Gas is lighter than air and so it rises and dissipates," Shepherd said. Unfortunately, in this case the wind was blowing the gas right...

Be careful what you wish for. We’ve all heard this phrase. It’s a cautionary phrase that for me I never thought much of until this week. On Sunday, as the long weekend was wrapping up I sort of wished that I wouldn’t have to go to work on Monday. Little did I know my wish would be granted, just not in the way I would ever want or hope. Yes. I did wind up taking Monday and even Tuesday off, but not for the reasons I would have wanted to. Nope. The flu decided to visit me. As I ran from the bed t...

Each year, around this time, it’s customary for one to feel the need to profess what they are thankful for. Yes. It’s Thanksgiving. For me, I am not only thankful for my faith, family and friends, but for my memories. Growing up on a small, Minnesota dairy farm, I knew what hard work was. I also knew just how special it was to actually have a day or two off from the job. Once every other year, our family would hire someone to take care of the farm while we traveled to the big city of Sha...

During the Monroe Intermediate School’s program on Friday, a local veteran shared with those in attendance what life was like in the Air Force. With her strength in mind, Johnson decided to visit a recruiters...
Is pumpkin spice season, also known as fall, over yet? Yes. It’s almost as if during the past few years, the flavor has taken over the autumn. It’s no longer about the leaves turning color. Nope. It’s all about pumpkin spice lattes and everything else they can make in pumpkin spice flavoring. Fall used to be a time when the temperatures would start to drop and we would trade in our flip flops for a nice pair of ankle boots, but now it’s all about pumpkin spice flavoring. Yes. The flavor that al...

The goal is simple: send as many soldiers a Christmas card as possible. This is the same goal Green River resident Harry Holler has made for several years, however he wanted to make sure everyone knew it wasn’t just him behind the project. “There is one person I rely one more than anybody to do this,” Holler said. “That’s Lori Hastert.” Holler said for as long as he’s been collecting Christmas cards for the troops, Hastert has been helping. “I can’t say enough good things about her,” she s...
