The final count is in. With the help of both the Green River and Rock Springs communities, 701 pints of blood was collected with can now be used to save 2,103 adult lives. Green River edged out on top by collecting 357 pints, while Rock Springs collected 344. This past weekend, the team traveled to Cheyenne to compete in the Cheyenne South Bison Stampede Speech and Debate Tournament. It was a rough Thursday night for the Green River Lady Wolves basketball team when they took on the Rock Springs Lady Tigers. The Lady Wolves started off slow in the first quarter, falling behind right away. By the end of the first quarter, they were down by 16 points, 26-10. Truman Elementary School students were busy learning about symmetry and image reflection during art class this week. On Tuesday morning, second-grade students were learning how to look for symmetry. They then worked on the first half of their reflection drawings. The Green River Lady Wolves girls basketball team played two away games this past week and came back with two losses in conference play. Two more swimmers qualified for state this weekend during the Lyman and Green River meets. The Green River High School swimming and diving team, added Miles Moffat to the state qualifying list in diving, while Logan Johnson qualified in the 100 breaststroke. Starting Feb. 1, the Rock Springs-Sweetwater County will no longer be the name of the local airport. From that date on, it will be known as the Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport. Children will have nice, warm hats to wear this winter thanks to a group of senior citizens. Last Wednesday, seniors representing Golden Hour Senior Center stopped by the Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center's Green River facility to donate 120 hats.
