    Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell is seeking a second term. The former Rock Springs police chief announced his candidacy in an email Friday afternoon. Lowell, a Democrat, was elected in 2014 after defeating then-Sheriff Rich Haskell. Lowell credited the sheriff’s office employees’ hard work and dedication as a team in helping him reorganize the office based on merit, as well as increasing patrols and services within the county.     Hard work and dedication paid off for the Green River middle school swimmers in Rock Springs. The team took first at the Rock Springs Invite Feb. 22, earning 268.50 points. Rock Springs took second with 267 points, while Evanston took third with 222.50 and Rawlins finished fourth with 171 points. “The girls have been working hard and the majority of them have dropped times in one or two events,” coach Michele Omelia said.     A Rock Springs man made an initial appearance at Circuit Court in Rock Springs Tuesday, facing an involuntary manslaughter charge after allegedly killing a woman in a situation witnesses believe was accidental. Stephen Jeffrey Taranovich, 41, could face life in prison from the charge.   • Man faces 16 counts of voyeurism

    A man arrested in Green River Friday had his bond set at $25,000 cash or surety after being charged with 16 counts of felony voyeurism. Ryan Flaten, 28, is in the Sweetater County Detention Center following his arrest. While voyeurism is often a misdemeanor charge, it becomes a felony when a camera or other recording device is used in the crime.     The Green River Chamber of Commerce had a major change-up in its staff late last week. According to a press release, Irene Parsons, who had worked as CEO of the camber since August, was no longer working at the Chamber as of Dec. 21. Lisa Herrera will be taking over Parsons’ duties during the interim. Parsons, who formerly worked for Sen.     A tip from a concerned sportsman resulted in a Kemmerer resident being caught in a 2016 deer poaching case. Kemmerer Game Warden Chris Baird and other area game wardens have been investigating the case since October 2016. Baird said this case would not have been made without someone reporting their information. Game wardens investigated a report of a deer shot and left in the Elk Mountain area, near Kemmerer.     A hunter alleged to have shot a mule deer south of Pinedale illegally was caught by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. The hunter, not named in a released issued by the WGFD, allegedly killed a buck mule deer Nov. 12. The mule deer season closed Oct. 6. The hunter was charged with taking a deer out of season and shooting from a public road, both misdemeanors.     Sweetwater County firefighters took on a second fire near Tipton early Tuesday morning. According to Sweetwater County Fire Warden Mike Bournazian, the fire was reported by a nearby Union Pacific train, as well as travellers along Interstate 80.     Fishermen are going after those invasive burbot and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Green River office has received its first fish tagged with a pink burbot raffle tag. The tags, colored pink, are part of a popular Fontenelle Burbot Raffle hosted by the Upper Bear River Chapter of Trout Unlimited, which sponsors a $1,000 raffle.     A former Green River resident on the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office most wanted list was arrested in Montana for probation revocation on original charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping and conspiracy to commit felony theft.
