The Green River Chamber of Commerce had a major change-up in its staff late last week. According to a press release, Irene Parsons, who had worked as CEO of the camber since August, was no longer working at the Chamber as of Dec. 21. Lisa Herrera will be taking over Parsons’ duties during the interim. Parsons, who formerly worked for Sen. Maggi gave his resignation Monday. “It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as head coach of the Green River Wolves. The Green River High School wrestling team faced a tough weekend of competition, which included a JV duel and two tournaments. A tip from a concerned sportsman resulted in a Kemmerer resident being caught in a 2016 deer poaching case. Kemmerer Game Warden Chris Baird and other area game wardens have been investigating the case since October 2016. Baird said this case would not have been made without someone reporting their information. Game wardens investigated a report of a deer shot and left in the Elk Mountain area, near Kemmerer. The Wolves competed in an invitational tournament in Evanston, earning a fourth-place finish with 149 points. A hunter alleged to have shot a mule deer south of Pinedale illegally was caught by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. The hunter, not named in a released issued by the WGFD, allegedly killed a buck mule deer Nov. 12. The mule deer season closed Oct. 6. The hunter was charged with taking a deer out of season and shooting from a public road, both misdemeanors. Sweetwater County firefighters took on a second fire near Tipton early Tuesday morning. According to Sweetwater County Fire Warden Mike Bournazian, the fire was reported by a nearby Union Pacific train, as well as travellers along Interstate 80. Bournazian said winds in excess of 30 mph caused the fire to spread east and covered approximately a mile of land. Fishermen are going after those invasive burbot and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Green River office has received its first fish tagged with a pink burbot raffle tag. The tags, colored pink, are part of a popular Fontenelle Burbot Raffle hosted by the Upper Bear River Chapter of Trout Unlimited, which sponsors a $1,000 raffle. Green River residents will have a chance to talk with representatives from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department Nov. 29 about what they would like to learn and know about grizzly bears. A former Green River resident on the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office most wanted list was arrested in Montana for probation revocation on original charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping and conspiracy to commit felony theft. The sheriff’s office announced the arrest of 18-year-old Hayden Anthony Riggs Tuesday evening. A fire at Little Bitter Creek Road has been contained after burning about 30 acres of land southwest of Rock Springs. A fire set off by a lightning strike caused a power outage in the Purple Sage area west of Rock Springs Monday morning.
