    A program providing meals to Green River’s children has been extended to June 30, 2021. According to a release from Sweetwater County School District No. 2, the food service program was granted meal flexibility to allow students to receive meals under its Summer Food Program through the end of 2020.     The city is still working to receive damage estimates from the Labor Day storm that uprooted trees and damaged roofs throughout Green River. According to Steve Core, communications administrator for the city, said it has only received two estimates from the six damage claims the city reported to its insurance carrier. Molly Stanton, 13, a student at Lincoln Middle School, joins two students from Cody in exploring the Bureau of Land Management and public lands for "Kids Ask WhY."     City employees continue cleaning up after the Labor Day storm much of Wyoming experienced caused damage to property throughout the city. According to an update issued Monday, all of the large trees blown over during the storm, including large pine trees at the city’s cemetery, were hauled off by contractors. Workers continue cleaning up smaller branches and debris, as well as make minor repairs. Street sweepers also continue cleaning streets from branches and small debris that was deposited by the storm.     Staff Report Mike Nomis, the former Green River Fire Chief, admitted to taking money from the fire department’s foundation last week during a change of plea hearing. Nomis originally plead not guilty to charges of felony theft and misdemeanor wrongful appropriation of public property. His wife Stephanie also faces a felony theft charge. Nomis will be sentenced at a future date. He faces a potential maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 for the felony charge.     The Green River High School tennis teams saw continued success during a trip to Cheyenne over the weekend. Both the boys and girls were undefeated after matches against Cheyenne South and only dropped one match against East. Central proved to be a difficult opponent for the Lady Wolves, sweeping them in all five matches.     A three-vehicle crash occurred at Truman Elementary School on Shoshone Avenue last Thursday. Green River police report the female driver, driving a pickup pulling a small trailer, suffered a seizure at the wheel. This seizure caused her to loose control of the vehicle.     With the recent news that Wyoming will be eliminating funding for programs that serve seniors citizens, Golden Hour Senior Center needs the community’s help. The funding is being eliminated due to the first round of budget cuts caused by the novel coronavirus.     The Green River Volunteer Fire Department had their work cut out for them after being dispatched to a deck fire and a trailer fire less than six hours apart.     Green River has recently completed a series of energy-efficient projects which will save the taxpayers thousands of dollars each year. The city’s parks and recreation department completed six different projects over the course of three years, which will result in an estimated cost savings of $56,000 yearly.     The search for a missing boy at the Flaming Gorge ended Tuesday night after his body was recovered from the Big Firehole Canyon area. Deputies responded to a report of two missing people Friday at about 7 p.m. Deputies were informed a 34-year-old Rock Springs man and a 7-year-old boy were missing since departing their campsite in a side-by-side at about 11:30 p.m. the previous night.     A Green River Police Department officer tested positive for COVID-19 Monday afternoon, leading to the officer being isolated at home. According to a press release from the city, the patrol officer is in good condition and the department believes it is a single positive case.     The Green River City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance that will alter the maximum number of kids permitted in a home daycare Tuesday night. This ordinance will also allow a daycare center to be included in an R-1 or R-2 zoning district.
