    The Green River High School Boys Wrestling Team started the year at a large and prestigious regional wrestling tournament this past Friday and Saturday in Heber, Utah for the Wasatch Invitational. There were three teams from Wyoming with Kemmerer, Lyman and Green River competing, and eleven teams from Utah.     The Green River High School Girls Wrestling team started their season this year on the road, competing at the Star Valley Lady Braves Brawl in Afton Thursday, December 12. Teams competing included Star Valley, Mountain View and Green River from Wyoming; Skyview from Utah; and South Fremont, Sky View, Sugar Salem and Thunder Ridge from Idaho.     The Green River High School Boys and Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity Wrestling teams started practice for the 2025 season this past week on Monday, November 25. Green River, Evanston and Riverton have all been moved up to 4A and will compete in the 4A West Division along with Natrona, Kelly Walsh, Jackson, Star Valley and Rock Springs.     The Green River High School Boys and Girls Indoor Track team will kick off their winter sports season in the new year, with their first day of practice scheduled for Monday, January 6. Their first meet will come two weeks later at the Snake River Open in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, January 18. The last day for signing up for Indoor Track is December 6, which will give the team a total of the athletes who will be competing this season.     The 1-7 Green River Wolves hit the road this past Friday for their final game of the 2024 football season. They took on the number-one ranked and undefeated Star Valley Braves at Star Valley’s home field on their Senior Night. Star Valley’s strong football presence was reflected in their undefeated record and a huge roster of 174 players to the Wolves’ 109.     The 1-7 Green River Wolves Football team took on the second-ranked 3A team in the state last weekend - the 6-1 Cody Broncs, whose only loss came the previous week to the number-one Star Valley Braves.     The Green River High School Wolves Football team took on the Powell Panthers this past Friday with a good Homecoming crowd and perfect fall weather. The Wolves came out strong to start the game.     The 2-3 Jackson Broncs Football team was in town to take on the Green River Wolves on Senior Night this past week.     This past week the Green River High School Girls and Boys Tennis teams hosted the 2024 South Regional Tennis Championships at three court locations on Friday and Saturday in Green River.     The Green River Wolves Football team made big plays on both offense and defense to win their first game of the season in front of a good home crowd at the Hall Of Fame Game last Friday, defeating Rawlins 28-15. The Wolves started with games against Torrington played in Laramie at 1 p.m. on Thursday before moving on to play Cheyenne South in Cheyenne Friday at 2:30 p.m. The team stayed overnight and played Cheyenne East at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.     The Green River Wolves Football team played much better in their second game of the season. They had a chance to win late in the fourth quarter, but came up short 21-14 to the Lander Tigers. The Wolves will start by playing a non-conference with perennial 2A power Mountain View before taking on two 3A East Conference opponents, Lander and Rawlins.
