At approximately 4:10 p.m. Sunday, December 3, Green River Fire Department with Castle Rock Ambulance to back were paged to Expedition Island for a reported deer stuck in the ice. The original report came in from the Wyoming State Fire Marshal Inspector who noticed the deer struggling. At approximately 5 a.m. Monday morning, the Green River Fire Department, along with Green River Police Department and Castle Rock Ambulance, was dispatched to a report of smoke around the area of Truman Elementary School. While responding, smoke was visible and coming from about two to three blocks away. At approximately 5:06 a.m. Monday morning, Green River Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in a four-plex type apartment building in Green River. Shortly after the call, Co-Chief Bill Robinson arrived on scene and found the upstairs apartment to be covered in smoke and a small fire.
