Green River Animal Control has seen an influx of cats and kittens this year, and the cat room has been overflowing. Animal control would like to encourage everyone to be a responsible pet owner. Halloween is just around the corner. It’s a day filled with lots of activities here in Green River, school costume parades, costume contests, and of course trick or treating. This year school kids have an early dismissal at 1 p.m. The Green River Police Department, along with many businesses along Flaming Gorge Way, will be participating in the fun. You may have noticed some changes at the Green River Police Department. Not only do we have some new faces, but we have a new look as well. In the last year we have had five officers retire. We appointed a new chief, Tom Jarvie. Two captains were promoted, Shaun Sturlaugson and Janet Kauchich. Promoted to sergeants were Brad Halter, Jesse Nielson, Joe Cronk, and Det. Rob Fischer.
