  • Picking through a fallen retailer's sad remains

    David Martin, Publisher|May 22, 2019

My Thursday afternoon was slightly derailed following what was supposed to be a quick trip to Shopko. Admittedly, the store’s closure wasn’t on my personal radar since writing about it months ago. The large, yellow and black signs with the words “store closing” printed boldly on them never brought me in. I went in because I suddenly needed a flash drive. I didn’t find one, but I ended up walking out with two packages of pens, a 10-piece set of stainless steel cookware and a black backpack I’m su...

  • My YouTube review: the cowboy cook

    David Martin, Publisher|May 15, 2019

I’ve taken an interest in Dutch oven cooking recently. It’s something I’m not generally familiar with and have absolutely no experience in. Regardless, I’ve found the topic interesting. The idea of using a cast iron oven to make something like chili, a corn bread or cobbler is appealing in that it’s all based on managing heat from the coals around or on top of the oven. There’s no setting it to 375 and just leaving a timer on until the meal is done. It sounds both challenging and fun. I’ve w...

John Freeman, D-Green River; Rep. Clark Stith, R-Rock Springs; and Sen. Tom James, R-Rock Springs, showing up. What surprised me was the lack of representation from Green River. No one from the Green R...
