With the events come visitors who spend money on meals and hotel rooms, which would help ease the city’s continued revenue problems. The city earns much of its revenue through sales taxes in Sweetwater County. For several years, the city has dealt with declining revenues, which have resulted in budget cuts each year. C...

Last Thursday marked the first time I hosted a holiday meal. Earlier this year, I bought a house and initially hoped to have a housewarming party at some point shortly afterward; it never happened. So, I figured the Thanksgiving dinner would be a good substitute. The dinner itself was a success, with nine people including myself getting stuffed to the gills with a wide-ranging variety of food. We planned for leftovers and encouraged everyone to bring tupperware to take some of it home. Despite...

Concussions have become a major concern in many sports, most notably with football. In moves made from pee-wee football all the way to the NFL, recognition of how devastating concussions can be to a person’s long-term health has resulted in rule changes and protocols designed to spot and limit the impact of a potential concussion on a player. No doubt, the procedures related to concussion recognition and management will evolve, one of the simplest means of preventing concussions might come with...
For many children, gaming often involves the use of their thumbs, a television and whatever video game console is popular with that child's group of friends. According to the FBI’s website regarding scams and safety, seniors are common targets for c...

Meats said the fiscal outlook from the state also suggests revenues will continue downward. However, one silver lining to that...
